DECEMBER BIKE RIDE

It was 24 deegres when I left home, but it warmed up nice later.  I went to church, the book store, and I visited Mom.  30.7 miles.  Nice ride.

RIP old Cannondale

I took my Cannondale to the bike shop so the mechanic could fix it, but it is so worn out (I wonder why) that it would cost 400 dollars to fix it! So, I guess I will have to retire it and by a new bike. RIP old cannondale.

Bruce Whaely Spirit Ride

I went to the bike shop and then ate dinner with my Dad at Perkins on Friday. That was 33 miles. Then I rode the Bruce Whaley Spirit ride on Saturday, and that was 61.84 miles.  I got a nice T-shirt after the ride. I went to Church today and put in another 25 miles.  I burned off any fat I had on me.

I just finished the Bruce Whaley Spirit Ride. From my front door to Overbrook Kansas and back is 61.8 miles. I tried to hit 40 mph on puke hill, but I could only do 39.9. I may need to re-calibrate my

September 2013 Ride on my folding bike.

I went 20 miles today and I didn’t bring any water, and I got very thirsty. But I found out that water melon tastes wonderful after a long ride.

I rode 58 miles with the Kaw Valley Bicycle Club yesterday. I had so much fun, and I got to ride with some very nice people. We ate at Boss Hoggs after the ride, and that was some good eating! Made some new friends too! And I got a 24.44 mile ride around Lake Shawnee today too.Labor Day Bike Ride

Tested my Bike trailer

I went to the local grocery store, and bought a big water melon and I carried it home using my bike trailer. Worked great!

I bought a bike trailer

I rode my mountain bike to Capps Bike shop and bought a bike trailer. Then I went to West Ridge Mall with my trailer in tow. I ran into Nate while I was there, and showed off my new trailer. He said he has one that he hauls his kids in. 27 miles by the time I got home.

Almost got caught in a thunderstorm

I went south on Berryton RD, after about 3 hours I ran out of water and food, and I was worried I would not make it. I called my brother and he gave me the address I was trying to find.  I went about 2 miles to far south. I did find the house I was looking for, and I was completely exhausted.  But, after eating and drinking 4 bottles of water (I drank 3 while I was on my bike) I felt much better and I thought I could go ahead and ride home.  But then a big thunder storm blew in and I accepted a ride in my brothers truck. He got me far enough in front of the storm that I was able to get home before it hit.

I went 22 miles today on my bike today, but most of it was pushing through snow and ice. I made it home, but I'm pooped!  The ice under the bridges was very slick, and I did fall (not hard) one time.

Cannondale won't shift in freezing weather!

I found out My Cannondale won't shift in cold weather, so I could not get into high gear.  It was slow going. But, when it warmed up it started shifting just fine. I got 24 miles in today. It was very chilly this morning

Replaced the front shifter on my mountain bike

   I needed to replace the shifter cable on my mountain bike, so I took apart the shifter to get the cable off.  Bad move, because now I can't get it back together.  So, I called the bike shop and they had one for $20.  I rode my bike 11 miles round trip to the bike shop to pick it up. I also bought a pair  of bike shorts and handle bar grips. Spent $85 dollars!  I fixed my bike after I got home, and now it is like new.

Oh I forgot to mention, I rode my mountain bike 41 miles last week. 10 miles was in the dark with a full moon. It was beautiful!  It was a little spooky though.  I went to church and then to small group. It was very cold, but it did not bother me too much.
