December bike ride

I got a nice ride in today. I didn't that I could be a winter rider, but so far I like it. The wind is a bigger issue than the temperature.

Dec 4 2011 bike ride

I looked outside this morning, and I thought "I can do this." So, I rode my bike to church. The puddles were froze, so it must have been around freezing. It was a fantastic ride! This is the coldest day I have ridden in ever.  I put on gloves and a warm hat and I was not cold at all. Well, maybe a little. Some geese were flying around me, and I had to admire them. They are amazing flyers.

Indoor training

It was cool outside, so I got the indoor trainer out. I worked up a very good sweat after 45 minutes. I need to do this every day, but it's hard to motivate.

I started out weak, but I finnished feeling strong.

I went 25 miles today. I dropped my wallet at church, but after a frantic search I found it in the seat I was sitting. The leaves are turning and they are spectacular!

Got my Cannondale out.

I got my Cannondale out and gave the chain a cleaning and lube. That was all it needed.  Low gear skips, so I took it to the bike shop. They were too  busy to look at it and asked me to bring it back monday. I love my Cannondale, it rides so nice. I bought a 40 dollar tire while I was there. I went to Dillons, and then I bought a linux mag.  It was a 22 mile ride.

Sunday, October 2, 2011

I went about 25 miles today on my Trek.  There are a lot more colors this time of year and I got some nice pictures. I bought some tacos at the 29th & Kansas Taco Bell.  I had a tummy ache, and a head ache this morning but I feel very good now.

Sunday, September 18, 2011

It was raining, so I did not go to church. But the rain stopped around 9:00 so I went to the later service. I felt so loved today even though I could not worship. Seems like electric guitars and loud speakers do the worshiping nowadays.  I went to Dillon's as usual afterwards.  Its about 24 miles.

Took nice pictures of butterflys

I went to Church and then went to Dillon's. I think I went 24 miles. I got some nice butterfly pictures.

Saturday, September 10, 2011

I went to Spangles in north Topeka today on my folder.  There is a big cottonwood tree along the trail and I took a picture of it.

20 miles on my folding bike today.

I found a video of a ride I did on 100 plus degree day.  I think it is cool, no I mean hot!

35 miles on the Landon Trail

I got the itch, so I went as far as I could go on the Landon trail (35  miles.)  I drank (sweated) 48 ounces of water plus 2 liters of water I bought at the Kwick shop. I barely made it home, and I got a head ache about 10 miles from home.  I bought some Excedrin and that fixed me up.
I drank a lot of water on this ride.

Watermelon is a heavy load for a bike.

Went to the farmers market and bought a small watermelon for 2 dollars and some tomatoes. Very heavy load to carry on a bike. I had to be very careful. I saw Judy there tool. I often see people I know at the market.

Ice melted in less than 10 minutes!

I went 22 miles today on my road bike, and it was pretty effortless. I was worried about the heat, but it did not bother me too much. I filled my water bottle half full with ice, and it melted in less than 10 minutes! I told the bible study group that I stopped reading my bible and praying, but God is being patient with me. They told me to read Mark 9 24 which I did. I saw Anna at Sonic too, and she said "That's why your so skinny!"

Very hot today

I went to church, then I went to my Moms. She told me about when she rode with her grandma in a 2 wheeled cart pulled by a small horse, and she told me about when she cut the buttons off her brothers coat, which they all shared because they only had 1 coat. The teacher felt sorry for him and  pinned it up with safety pins.

I gave Mom a bible in 1989, and she still has it! She likes it a lot, and the pages are tattered and torn from her using it so much. She said psalm 25 really helped her get through tough times.

Folding bike ride after crash a couple of weeks ago.

I went to the farmers market and then to Fairlawn Plaza Shopping center on my folding bike. I love that bike. It does not have much of a top end as far as speed is concerned, but it scoots along just fine. I think I went about 24 miles round trip today .  I crashed it a couple of weeks ago, so I am much more careful on it now. The scrapes have healed up except for a small area on my shoulder.

Amazing grace

I crashed my bike 7 days ago, and my injuries are almost completely healed. Wow. I landed my face on concrete! No broken bones, no scars. God loves me I think

Fixed my folding bike

I went to the bike shop today, and I  bought a new brake lever for 7 dollars.  I installed it on my folder bike (I broke it when I crashed), and it works like new. After that, I took my folding bike for a ride. I went 20 miles on it. I was very cautious after I crashed it last week. I will always wear my helmet from now on!
I also picked up the rim for my mountain bike.

Crashed my new bike! Ouch!

I tried to ride my folding bike like a mountain bike bike, and I crashed! I got road rash on my face and on my shoulder. Ouch! I broke the brake lever on my new bike too. I tried to get up, but I got light headed and I had to lay back down on the ground. A couple came out, and asked if I was OK. I said that I will be OK, and I just need a minute to recover.  I layed on the ground for a long time before I could get up.  I was about 5  miles from home, and I was worried I might not make it. But, I was able to get home on my own power.

Crashed my foding bike, OUCH!

I could not wait

I had to go get my new folding bike and try it out. I went 20 miles on it, and it was great. It won't keep up with a road bike, but it scoots along just fine. I really like the bell. I can warn people when I am passing.

Bought a new bike

I broke 4 spokes on my mountain bike, so I rode my road bike today. I went 11 miles in 45  minutes! That's 15 minutes faster than I could do it on my mountain bike. I went to the bike shop after church, and I saw a sweet little folding bike for 430 dollars. I had to buy it. I think I went about 30 miles today.

Saved a Turtle

I went to Church, then I went to Lake Shawnee. A Lady at the Church wanted me to sit with her I think.  There was a turtle at the spill way that was trying to climb a very steep slope. I went down the slope so I could take pictures, but on the way back up I saw the turtle had fell down and was stuck on his back in the rocks. So, I picked him up and carried him to the top. I hope that was where he wanted to be. I think he would have died if I didn't help.

Cooling my feet at Shawnee Lake spill way.

Dreary day

It is a cloudy day, but it is very good bike riding weather. I rode 21.6 miles today.  I got a couple of nice pictures of flowers along the way too.

Missed out on the hail storm yesterday

I had a headache yesterday, so I did not ride. Good thing, because  I missed out on the hail storm and tornado. I went 27.65 miles on my bike today.

Cool day for riding

It is around 45 degrees outside and windy, but I pedaled fast to keep warm. I went to Church, but they have the music too loud and I can't worship the Lord. I don't tithe because of that.  They talked about fear of the lord at the bible study. I went 22 miles, and the cold did not bother me at all. Actually, it felt good!Cool Windy day for bike riding.

Perfect bike weather!

It does not get any better than this. Warm, no wind and it's not raining. I got in 22 miles today. I went to the farmers market and bought a couple of burritos.

Sunday, April 17, 2011

I do dumb things sometimes.

I could not find my phone on the trail, so I bought a new one. When I got ready to plug it into the charger, surprise! there is my old phone. I had to take the new phone back. I was so embarrassed.

Lost my cell phone

My 200 dollar cell phone fell out of my pocket while I was riding my bike. I hope I can find it tomorrow. It's too dark to find it now, so I will try in the morning. The chances of finding it are slim I'm afraid. Oh well, things happen.

Low and Slow into the wind

I rode my mountain bike to church today. It was a great service, and I even went to bible study. I haven't done that for a very long time. We were taught about grace. 24.5 miles on my odometer. It was very windy and I could only go 5 mph into it, but over 30 going back! Julie Thompson said that it was amazing that I could ride in that wind.  My secret is to go slow and get in low gear.

Lots of flowers to take pictues of

Beautiful day for riding. Lots of flowers to take pictures of. I went 24 miles today. Went to Dillons and ate. I fixed my broken chain with a link I bought at the bike shop. They said my chain is worn out, and I need to replace the rear sprocket too. I plan on doing it later, but I have to have my bike for now.

Broken Chain

I broke the chain on my bike, so I had to kick it the rest of the way home like a scooter. Lucky for me, I was only 2 miles from home. I went 22 miles today, but 2 were without a chain! The wind is very strong too! I went to church, but I got a late start. I left at 7:51 am and I got there at 8:58. Not bad considering the wind is blowing very strong. I got in 24 miles on Saturday too. After that, I went to the bike shop (on my road bike) to get a new chain for my mountain bike. They said my sprocket is worn out. It's a new bike! about a year old! Anyway, I put another 22 on my road bike, so I went about 42 miles today. Whew, I am pooped!!

Purple flowers

It was a beautiful day, and I did 22 miles on my Gary fisher.  There is not much to take pictures of, but I did see some flowers starting to come up.

Lunch date

I rode my bike to eat lunch with a lady, and then I rode to her apartment. We got to know each other better, but we agreed not to go too fast. I like her, I hope it works out. I went 13.5 miles today.

Second Breath

I went 24 miles today on the Mountain Bike. The new tires should help with the flat tire problems.  the first ten miles were tough, but then I got my second breath. I went to the St Patrick's parade, and then Target to buy a USB drive.  The endorphins are kicking in, so I feel very good.  Oh, and my odometer has 943 miles on it, and I put it on last June.

March spinning

I put new tires on my Gary Fisher. It was too cold for a ride, so I did a 1/2 hour spin. I am so out of shape, and I gained 10 pounds. I better start spinning every day to get back in shape for bike season.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13_2vap965M

March ride

I went 14.3 miles on my off road bike today.  My legs and lungs are missing, but I hope to get them back later in the season.  I went to the bike shop and bought a long sleeved bike shirt, patches and a new tire.  I spent 90 dollars. I stopped at the Topeka bike charity to say hello. I tried to get a good picture to post, but its hard this time of year.

Snow ride in February

I haven't rode my bike for over 3 months, but I got a nice ride in today. It was slushy, but warm. I had to watch for ice under the bridge. I got in 18 miles. I stopped to see my Mom, but I lost my  patience with her and walked out. She said I did not have to go, but I left anyway. I need to work on my self control, and remember she is 83 years old.
