My nephew had an accident with the bike I gave him. He ran broadside into a jeep. The front wheel came off and hit him in the face! He was not seriously injured, but he did get a bloody nose, a sore shoulder, and a few scrapes. He has a new trophy now! The bent rim from the wreck. A guy at the bike shop said it would make a nice display at the art gallery! My neph has it hanging on his wall now. Its pretty neat to look at. He's showing me where the wheel hit him in this picture. He said that he was riding it all over the place before the accident. He's putting a new rim on his bike, and it should be like new. I'm so thankful he did not get hurt worse!

I rode to Church today. Its was hot and humid when I left, but I got caught in a thunderstorm on the way home. It was awesome and it scared me a little. I was hoping I could get home before it hit, but I didn't make it. I could see the front approaching, and I prayed to God to keep me safe. Then I took shelter under a bridge. I decided to take the plunge into the wind and rain to get home. It was cold and wet. It was great! I gave my Trek away to my nephew yesterday, and I think he will like it.

I rode my bike 20 miles on Saturday, and nothing unusual happened. I did not feel like riding sunday morning, but I got myself out the door. I wasn't hungry so I didn't eat breakfast either. I went to church. It was hot and humid, and I did a lot of sweating. I feel so good now. I'm glad I went. I met someone I know from work riding his bike on Shunga trail. He said that his car doesn't get good gas mileage, so he is trying to find a way to bike to work. I am going back to church this afternoon. I am saving a couple gallons of gas today. I just love to ride my bike.

I went 50 miles on my bike today, and I feel OK. So, altogether, I went 70 miles this weekend. I had some problems with new patches that wouldn't hold. I had to pump up my tire every few blocks. When I got home, I threw those patches away. I'm going back to the old type of patch. It was a beautiful day. I did not drive my car at all! I think this is a great way to save on gas.

I rode my bike 50 miles last Sunday, and I was to tired to update my blog till today. I went to church in the morning, and small group in the afternoon. The pastor wanted to give me a ride home, but I didn't accept his offer. I did not drive my car at all!

I only rode 20 today. I left at 6:30 am. I got a flat front tire about 6 miles out, but I easily fixed it. It is a perfect day for riding. There is no wind, its not hot, and the sun is shining. After the ride my Mom came over, and I cooked a hamburger for her.

Well, I got busted for having an expired tag. So, I'll have to ride my bike allot more than normal tomorrow. I totally forgot about it, until the Highway Patrol pulled me over. I thought "why is he pulling me over? I'm not breaking the law." Duh, I sure goofed. I will need to ride about 50 miles on Sunday to get everywhere I want to go. I'll find out if I can handle it or not.

I rode my bike 45 miles last week. I only rode 20 miles this week, but I sure enjoyed it. The endorphins really kicked in when I got home. I enjoyed the rest of the day by sketching a dandelion. There were lots of little kids on their bikes, so I had to go very slowly on some parts. I may have to find a new route to avoid them.

I went from the east side of town to the west side yesterday. I estimate it was a 25 mile ride. After that, I went contra dancing for 2 hours. I was beat when I got home. I had a terrible head ache when I got up the next morning, but I did get another 25 miles in. My headache is gone now. I think the bike ride helped. It was a beautiful spring day today, but the wind was very strong. The trees and the grass are greening up, and I think there is more oxygen in the air. I brought a couple of bananas with me, and they energized me when I turned around to go back home.

It stated out cool and cloudy, but then the sun came out and it was nice weather for riding.
I took a picture of an old steam train thats along the trail. I also took an interesting picture of a tree bud. I got another 20 in this week end, and I feel great! I need to extend my trips another 10 miles or so, that should really get me in shape!

It finally warmed up. I haven't rode my bike for weeks. I had a hard time getting myself going, but I'm glad I did. I rode 20 miles very easily, even though the wind was blowing 16 mph. A train diverted me, so I had to take the river road. I don't like the river road because its narrow, and there is a lot of traffic on it. But, I got though it safely.

It was cold yesterday, so I did some spinning for about 1/2 an hour. It warmed up today and I did 20 miles. I chose to ride my Cannondale. I forgot what a great bike it is. It takes very little effort to make it go. It's my favorite now. After I got home, I felt like I could go another 20 miles. A friend of mine suggested that I put a picture of myself on here instead of my bike. Hey, whats wrong with bike pictures? Oh alright, I'll put a picture of myself on here. Excuse the helmet hair.

I decided to ride my good old Trek 1000 today, and it was very windy. I had to use the lowest gear, and go slowly into the wind. I could have walked faster on some parts. The wind can make you stronger, or it can break you. I thought I wasn't going to make it, but I kept going. I heard some ducks, so I took a picture. I was very happy when I finally got to the end of the trail. The wind blew me home very quickly. I wish I had brought my water bottle, because I got very thirsty. I gulped down two glasses of vegetable juice when I got home. It tasted wonderful!

I fixed a flat on my old Trek 1000. Fixing flats is part of the fun for me. On long trips, I always make sure I have patches and a pump. Once, I forgot to bring my pump, got a flat tire, and I walked 5 miles to get back home.
I put my trek on the turbo trainer today, and did an easy spin for about 45 minutes, I was breathing pretty good. Its not as good as being outdoors, but it will help my body adjust better when I do start riding. I've had that bike for about 15 years, and its still my favorite. Its very comfortable to sit on, and I like having the shifter on the down tube.

This is my personal diary of my bicycle adventures. I started riding bicycles when I was 25, and I haven't stopped yet. I'm 51 now, and I think it keeps me fit. I'm addicted to endorphins, and that's why I ride so much. I'm just to tired to be depressed or sad after a ride. I went 40 miles a week last year, from spring to fall. I had to quit for the winter, but I intend to start back up as soon as the snow goes away.

I like road bikes the best, but I also have a trek 4300 trail bike. It doesn't go as fast, but I can go off road If I want. I did ride my bike 1 day in January when it warmed up to 50, but I almost wrecked when I hit a patch of ice. I'm very careful not to get into heavy traffic, and I have a bicycle trail close by to ride on. Bicycling is dangerous, so I ride with a helmet. I need some wood to knock on, but I haven't got seriously hurt yet. Its a 20 mile round trip to the end of the trail and back, and I can do it in about 2 hours or so. I go at my own pace, and I try not to push to hard, especially when its hot. I like to get up early in the morning and ride, that way I can miss the cars, and the heat. It also makes the rest of my day better too.
